Driving and Parking Information

DIRECTIONS:
From US/Canada Border

  • Cross the Canadian Border via I-5 North.
  • I-5 becomes Route 99. Continue north on 99 until you cross the Oak Street Bridge.
  • Turn left on 70th Ave. Turn right on Granville Street.
  • Proceed north across Granville Street Bridge. Take the Seymour Street exit.
  • Proceed north along Seymour Street to West Cordova Street.
  • Turn left on West Cordova Street. Turn right on Howe Street.
  • You are now facing Canada Place.
From Vancouver Airport
  • Exit the airport via Grant McConachie Way.
  • Cross the Arthur Laing Bridge staying in the right lane.
  • Take the Granville Street exit and proceed north
    down Granville Street.
  • Proceed north across the Granville Street Bridge. Take Seymour Street exit.
  • Proceed north along Seymour Street exit to West Cordova Street.
  • Turn left on West Cordova Street. Turn right on Howe Street.
  • You are now facing Canada Place.

Long term parking is located at Cruisepark, www.cruisepark.com, located minutes from Canada Place on Waterfront Rd. West.

Before You Cruise

WHERE TO STAY BEFORE OR AFTER YOUR CRUISE VACATION:
Holland America Line will gladly make all the arrangements for your
pre-cruise or post-cruise stay in Vancouver. Please call 1-877-SAILHAL to add a hotel stay. Guests who book their hotel stays through Holland America Line will enjoy extra special attention such as:

  • An onsite Holland America Line representative will assist you in your stay; just visit them in the lobby.
  • A welcome letter upon check-in letting you know about
    transfer times.
  • Leave transportation arrangements to us.

For Pre-Cruise guests we include transportation from the airport to hotel, from the hotel to the ship.
For Post-Cruise Guests we include transportation from the ship to the hotel and from the hotel to the airport.

Embarkation / Check-in

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT CHECKING-IN:
Get to the Pier
Please arrive no earlier than 10:30AM.
The building will not be open before this time and the driveway is very congested with disembarking guests.

Check Your Luggage
Attach a Holland America Line Bag Tag to all pieces of checked luggage. Follow the signs to the baggage check-in door which opens promptly at 10:30AM, show your baggage, cruise ticket and photo-ID to the security personnel. Your bags will be scanned, loaded onboard, and delivered to your stateroom.

Check Your Documents
ONLINE CHECK-IN DOCUMENTATION
Guests who have completed the Online Check-In requirements are only required to present the following:

  • Proof of Citizenship
  • Signature Preferred Boarding Pass
  • Credit Enrollment Form along with the credit card you wish to use for onboard expenses.
  • Holland America Line Health Questionnaire.
TERMINAL CHECK-IN DOCUMENTATION
Guests who prefer to check-in at the Terminal will need to bring the following items:
  • Cruise Ticket
  • Handwritten Immigration Form
  • Credit Enrollment Form, along with the credit card you wish to use for onboard expenses
  • Proof of Citizenship

    Give the Check-In Agent all of the above mentioned documents, have your picture taken, receive your stateroom key and you are all set.

    Board Your Ship
    In Vancouver embarkation starts at about 11:30am. An announcement will be made once the embarkation process is ready to start.

    Terminal Features and Services
    The Port of Vancouver is homeport for the Vancouver-Alaska cruise, one of the world's most popular cruises. Annually from May to September, close to 1 million revenue passengers on some 300 sailings, pass through the Port's two cruise terminals, Canada Place and Ballantyne. Canada Place is located in the city centre, close to shopping, dining, attractions, and Stanley Park. You can visit the Port Vancouvers's website by clicking here.

    Visa Requirements
    Voyages leaving Vancouver typically go north to Alaska. All guests must have proof of citizenship to board the ship. A government issued, certified copy of a birth certificate with photo ID - OR - Passport are the two forms of accepted proof of citizenship required for sailing. Some Non-US citizens require Canadian Visas or Passport Stamps. Please check the Canadian Immigration Website to find out if you need one prior to coming to Vancouver. Those guests who require a visa and do not obtain one will be denied boarding.

    Disembarkation

    WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT LEAVING YOUR SHIP:

    In Vancouver, disembarkation typically starts at 8:30AM and
    ends at 10:30AM.

    Government Clearance
    All Guests are subject to Customs and Immigration scanning prior to disembarking the ship. Please keep your passport and citizenship documents with you at all times.

    Your Baggage
    Holland America Line is pleased to offer Signature Express Baggage Service. Once onboard a letter explaining the eligibility requirements will be sent to you. Signature Express Baggage Service offers you the opportunity to receive your airline boarding passes, and check your luggage in to your flight while still onboard your Holland America Line ship. Our certified partners will take your luggage from you at the terminal once you have cleared Canadian Customs and deliver it to our airline partners for loading onto your outbound aircraft. You will then claim your luggage when you arrive at your final destination. This option allows you to enjoy your final hours in Vancouver at leisure. Imagine your options: 1) Enjoy a leisurely stroll in Stanley Park or 2) Stand in a never-ending line at the airport - the choice is yours with Signature Express Baggage Service.

    Those Guests not participating in the Signature Express Baggage Service should expect the following:
    Upon disembarking the ship, all luggage is laid down in the disembarkation hall by color/number order. Once you are invited to exit the ship please come and find your color/number group and claim your bags. There are porters available, but individual carts are not available. Please exit the building with all family members and luggage, once you leave you cannot re-enter.

    The Porters are salaried employees and tipping is not required.

    Your Transportation:
    Immediately outside the doors of the disembarkation hall you can find Holland America Line motorcoach transfers, taxis, and limos.

    Transportation Options
    In Vancouver, guests usually choose to take Holland America Line arranged transportation, which offers transfers between the Vancouver Airport, Select Hotels and Ship's Terminal via motorcoach.

    If you would like to book a transfer please call 1-877-SAILHAL and tell them you would like to add a transfer.
    Depending on your air arrival time and date special instructions have been included in your ticket book advising where to find your Holland America Line Guest Service Representative at the airport.
